Empowering Communities with Hit The Dhol celebrating all Cultures (also trading as Hit The Dhol) is committed to delivering vibrant and interactive cultural workshops that are aligned to curriculum topics and complement cultural celebrations within schools.  Our workshops are available for young people from the foundation stage to KS5 and Special Schools across the UK. Drum Fun – Programme

During these exciting workshops, we aim to introduce rhythm awareness and ensemble skills through the teaching of rhythm-based music principally through the traditional music of Punjab. Using authentic Dhol Drums students of all ages and standards can explore this exciting style of drumming, to perform a variety of styles and rhythms. Working in groups your students will develop team skills, musical appreciation, history of rhythm, cultural awareness, concentration skills, focus and confidence. We can tailor and adapt our workshops to meet your bespoke requirements and can deliver workshops of up to 35 students per cohort. 

Our Drum Fun schools programme over a day will cover:

- Introduction and background of Dhol Drum.

- Goals of the Workshop.

- Instructions on how to hold the beaters (sticks).

- Explanation of the rhythms/notes.

- Introduction and Demonstration of basic rhythms.

- Exercise of basic rhythms for students to attempt.

- Introducing new beats and rhythms.

- Finish with a group or individual performance of rhythms learnt.

Hit The Dancefloor - Street HipHop Dance routines to traditional Bhangra Dancing Workshop - East meets West with a twist.

World Music DJ Workshops - Bringing musical beats from around the world to your school. 

Djembe (African) Drumming workshop - Entertaining and educational Djembe drum circle workshops to teach students different rhythms and patterns in an exciting and energetic way. 

Whole School Cultural Fashion Show – Providing students the opportunity to showcase and celebrate cultural heritage through their traditional costumes, fashion, and beauty. 

Chai and Paint Cultural Murial Arts – A fantastic workshop to let your student's imagination run wild creating murals around key cultural landmarks and symbols from across the world. Our Chai and Paint art workshops broaden the scope of creative learning experiences, teach new artistic and interpersonal skills and develop a greater understanding of different religious symbols and cultures. students. 

Cultural Storytelling – Our storytelling workshops for schools are hugely rewarding experiences for all key stages. Our stories will cover a wide variety of class topics and cultures and will bring characters and stories to life by providing a valuable window into different cultures. 

All our staff are qualified and experienced in delivering musical workshops and have enhanced DBS, Safeguarding and Public Liability Insurance.
